Enjoy lunch like a local at one of Bilbao’s famed Pintxo bars before heading on over to the Guggenheim for a privately guided tour with an in-house expert which is essential to really get to learn about this iconic building and the famed collection that it houses.

The evening continues with along the art theme where you’ll dine in a private house in the old town. It’s a gallery AND a restaurant, full of art that can be purchased while you’re enjoying an incredible traditional Basque meal.

Enjoy the nightlife the city has to offer, as late as you like. We recommend the Casco Viejo (or old town) which is great for pintxos and bars, but later across the river from the large market, the up & coming area of San Francisco and the bars on Muelle Marzana and Calle Marzana are great as well…on the way to Antzoki which is a great live venue that stays open late!

Day 2 is where it really gets delicious.  After breakfast, you’ll head out on a tour to the green hills just outside of Bilbao.  Here, you’ll visit a family-run cheese maker who, after 3 generations, are producing unique protected D.O. Idiazabal cheese in a stunning location under the foothills of the Sierra Salvada.  The energetic host always guarantees a big welcome. 

Enjoy lunch today at another small local business–a family run Txacoli winemaker! Meet the boss, a strong matriarchal Basque woman who is maintaining a hundreds-year-old tradition in the hidden valley.  Learn, explore and taste the wine they make before sitting down to a home-cooked lunch, one prepared by the boss herself!

Head back to Bilbao in the late afternoon, where you can freshen up and continue along the wine theme for dinner with a local tasting event in a super location in the center of the city.
